Why texting holds the key to successful dating!

The biggest text messaging turns offs revealed. Are you guilty of them?

Your text behaviour could be the key to finding a happy relationship.

Responding too slowly to a love interest’s text or equally being too overzealous can both be big turn-offs, according to new research.

In a survey of 500 people by dating website Cupid.com, 39 per cent of men and 33 per cent of women said the biggest turn off by potential partners was not responding promptly enough to their text messages.

But there’s a fine balance to be struck as 33 per cent of men and 44 per cent of women admitted that they hate being bombarded by too many text messages.

Text speak is another no-no, with 28 per cent of men and 23 per cent of women citing it as dates’ most off-putting trait
And men and women have different views on the appropriate length of time to leave before texting love interests.

More than a third of women will wait for a man to text them first after meeting on a night out but they might be left hanging as almost 20 per cent of men will be doing the exact same thing.

At the other end of the spectrum, at least we still rate breaking up with someone a face-to-face action, with 82 per cent of men saying they would break up with a partner in person and 63 per cent of women agreeing.

Texting has unsurprisingly changed the dating landscape, but has also increased the chance of confusion in many cases.
“Texting has its place when dating,” agrees Sean Wood, from Cupid plc. “It can be a great way to communicate when you are feeling too shy to say it and a great way to break the ice after a date. But there’s a time and a place for it, sometimes nothing can replace face to face conversation.

Do you think texting helps or hinders relationships.
